We now have a surgery date

Tracy and I met with her oncologist today and we did get some very good news! The CAT scan and the bone scan are both clear – there are no signs of cancer anywhere else in her body, and the lymph nodes look good. This is a big relief.

We also found out when her surgery is scheduled – Tuesday, November 25th. There will be a boatload of pre-surgical events (expected to be from 9am to 4pm) and her surgery is expected to take place after 5pm. They expect her to be under the knife for three hours and then in recovery for two? She will then enjoy the spacious accommodations at Maine Medical overnight, and expect her to be released the next day. Tracy should be pretty uncomfortable for the next five days.

We are so thankful that Tracy’s mom, Beverly, is planning to come up to be with us for that week – she is always an encouragement and a help. Our kids will be thrilled to spend time with “Meme”.

Thank you to all of those who have been praying for us during this time; please continue to ask God to glorify Himself by sustaining us. We realize that we are frail and that our faith, left to our strength, would fall apart. It is by His grace that we have been able to find our life and hope in Him. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Whatever else may come, no matter how difficult to endure, we pray that God would allow us to find Him to be our Treasure.

Thank you to so many who have pointed us to that in your words and in your deeds. You have reminded us of how faithful God is, and how generous God is, and how compassionate God is, and how helpful God is. Speaking of that – may we specifically thank you for your generosity? If you are looking for Tracy and I this Thursday or Friday, you won’t find us (if I’ve got anything to do with it); Tracy and I are going to slip away to celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary (Nov. 20th). We’ll talk to you when we get back.

Our thoughts and continual prayers are with you and those associated with your surgery today, that Christ would guide their every decision and every move, that your recovery would go smoothly, and for praise for His being a continued presence and stronghold in your lives.
