Pointing our teens toward Christ for satisfaction

Many of you know that during the month of May we tackle the topic of sexual purity in our Salt and Light youth ministry. Just to keep you up to date, I wanted to let you know about some of the resources that our youth team has put together.

The team spent three weeks challenging our teens to trust God and His standards.

What are His standards? “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”, Ephesians 5:3.

Why should we live up to that standard? Is that what will make God love us and accept us? No! Because God loves you and has made a way for you to be accepted by Him through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, we should seek satisfaction and pleasure at its source – in God alone.

Parents, we recognize that you are teaching on this topic day in and day out, so our goal is to come alongside of you and say that phrase we love – “Your parents are right!!” In order to keep an open dialogue we try to record each of our sessions and upload them so you can listen to what we are teaching with your teens.

There is a helpful tool to help teens treasure Christ by John Piper, and an insightful article by Geoff Wright that is a challenge to our young men entitled, “Becoming Mr. (W)right”. Go to the Salt and Light site to access even more.
