Resources for Knowing Jesus from the Old Testament

Want to learn how the whole Old Testament is all about Jesus? Here are some fantastic resources to help you along the way.

The Jesus Storybook Bible

The best children’s (storybook) Bible. Period.  And…though written for children ages 4-8, I have learned so much from reading this to my sons. I can’t imagine any adult not being blessed by reading this.

The Unfolding Mystery: Discovering  Christ in the Old Testament

Probably the best book to begin your journey on. Beginning with Adam and Eve and continuing through to the last of the Prophets, Dr. Clowney takes a fascinating walk through the Old Testament, revealing Christ in places where He is usually overlooked. One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors.

Knowing Jesus through the Old Testament

The title sum it up well! In this book, Christopher Wright traces the life of Christ as it is illuminated by the Old Testament. And he describes God’s design for Israel as it is fulfilled in the story of Jesus.

God’s Big Picture: Tracing the Storyline of the Bible

How can we begin to read and understand the Bible as a whole?  Vaughn Roberts shows how the whole Bible holds together and points to Jesus…in about 150 pages! If you want to get a grip on the whole Bible this book is for you.

According to Plan: The Unfolding Revelation of God in the Bible

This is the book that God’s Big Picture is based on. So if you want to dig a little deeper, you’ll want to tackle Graeme Goldsworthy’s book. Don’t worry! Bigger doesn’t mean dull! This book is remarkably clear and compelling.
