Join Us January 25th at 6pm

Let’s face it, it is possible to think more about praying than spend time praying. In fact, some of us may spend more time focusing on how we pray, than on the God we are praying to. An encouraging resource to help you in your prayer life is A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World by Paul Miller. If you get it, you will be encouraged.

Now I believe that there are many at WBC who pray – a lot. Our Missional Communities pray for each other. There are dozens of discipleship relationships springing up (whether you call them Fight Clubs, or DNA groups, or just time that we get together) and they are praying for each other. Ministries pray together. Families pray together. Spouses pray together. Moms pray together. People are in their “closets” meeting with God and praying to Him. These are all happening quietly, persistently, passionately and virtually unseen.

Here’s the rub – often, if I cannot see something, I may assume it is not happening.

But there is great benefit to having a time when God’s people, especially the community of WBC, has time to pray together corporately. We get to join together in a great ministry and hear from people we don’t get to hear from often, and we are encouraged! We are planning a time of gathered prayer for Wednesday, January 25th from 6 to 7:30pm, and we want to encourage you to be part. The teens will join us, and we plan to have something for the kids. I would love to see a group as large as our Sunday morning gathering here to pray. Our focus will be on asking God to cause the gospel to run, to speed forward, to be honored in our community (2 Thess. 3:1-5).

Think of this as an open door, not a requirement! Remember, prayer is Gods invitation to us to partner with him, walk with him, play with Him as He works in this world. Our prayerlessness does not paralyze him, it penalizes us.
